Quick answer

What are remote hands services?

Remote hands is on-site technical support at a data centre. DACPROS engineers carry out instruction-led tasks on your equipment so you don't have to travel. You give us the steps — restart this server, re-seat that cable, swap the part you've supplied, tell us what the status light shows — and an engineer attends, does it and reports back on what was done.

How we operate. Attendance is Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00, and is scheduled according to location, scope and engineer availability. Out-of-hours attendance may be available if arranged in advance.

If the job needs an engineer to diagnose a fault or make a judgement call, that is smart hands. Remote hands is for work where you already know the steps.

What's covered

What remote hands can do for you.

Tell us the steps. An engineer carries them out on site and reports back on what was done, with photos where they help.

Reboots & power cycles

A server, switch or firewall restarted on your instruction, with the result confirmed back to you.

Visual checks

Status lights, port lights and fault indicators read and reported, so you can decide the next step.

Cable re-seats

Ports and connections re-seated or swapped to your instructions.

Part swaps

Drives, PSUs and optics you’ve supplied, swapped to your instructions.

Vendor escort & live sessions

A trusted pair of hands on site while your vendor or your own team works the console remotely.

Pre-arranged out-of-hours attendance

Planned out-of-hours visits may be available when arranged in advance.

Before the visit

Get the most from a remote hands visit.

A good brief is what makes a short visit work. Have these ready when you contact us.

  • The exact steps, in order — a runbook or a numbered list an engineer can follow without guessing.
  • The facility, cabinet and U position, plus any asset labels on the equipment.
  • Whatever the data centre needs to let us in, such as a booking reference or a site contact.
  • Any parts you’re supplying, delivered to site and clearly identified in advance.
  • A named contact on your side who can be reached during the visit.
  • What done looks like, and what you want confirmed or photographed.

Remote Hands FAQ

Straight answers, no jargon.

What does remote hands mean in a data center?
Remote hands means an engineer on site carries out simple, instruction-led tasks on your equipment, so you don't have to travel. You supply the steps. Typical examples are restarting a device, re-seating a cable, swapping a part you've supplied or reporting what a status light shows.
What's the difference between remote hands and smart hands?
With remote hands you decide the steps and we carry them out. With smart hands we bring engineering judgement to the work. Restarting a device or re-seating a cable to your instructions is remote hands. Tracing a fault, re-terminating cabling or swapping a card is smart hands, which has its own service page.
Do you offer 24/7 remote hands?
Our operating hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00. Out-of-hours attendance may be available if it is arranged in advance. Contact us with the date and scope and we'll confirm whether we can attend.
How quickly can you attend?
Attendance is scheduled according to location, scope and engineer availability. We don't quote a standard attendance time, because it depends on the facility, the work and who is available. Call us on 0333 444 8301 with the details and we'll tell you what is possible.
How much does remote hands cost?
Each job is scoped individually. The price depends on the location, the work and when it's needed, so we quote after a short scoping conversation. Contact us with the details.
Can you work in my colocation facility?
Yes, subject to that facility's own access rules. Colocation providers set their own access and booking requirements, so tell us the facility and we'll confirm what's needed. Colocation infrastructure support sits within our smart hands service.
